When reading What Student Really Need To Hear my mind was already choosing if i agreed with the teacher or disagreed. The teacher talks about how he feels that his students are giving up to early in life. He bring to mind that the choices we make now will affect us in the long run. The reason for this letter is to motivate and give students the cold hearted truth about life.
However, reading further into the letter I also thought about what I already know about teenagers. Teenager are going through a lot at that stage in life. The struggle of identity, work, and school or even struggling with family problems pile up. People should know and understand an excuse from a reason. Being too easy on a student is one thing but understanding the things they are going through is another.
Dear Freshman Self,
Middle school certainly does not prepare you for what is about to come and high school does not prepare you for college. If you want to succeed in the world of high school there are some thing you need to take into account and understand. You must act mature. Although you might think you are like an older, more sophisticated teen, you are not. Lets say there is a totem pole… you are at the bottom. The more you act mature the more respect and friends you will make. Second, you should be well organized and prepared. Do not put papers or any other necessities for school in a place that you might lose them or forget them. Being prepared - doing your homework, studying for a test and bringing the items you need for class - will help in the long run. Third, try not to get to stressed out. Stress is almost inevitable in the coming years if high school but, if you follow the advice I have given you, it will tone the stress down a lot. Lastly, it would be in your best interest to stay away from any drama that may occur. I could give you many reasons why but the most important are; you are better than that, not your circus, not your monkeys, and it will drag you down. What you do in high school will affect your future, so I advise you to try your best and do not get mixed up with the wrong people.
Dear Future Self,
While you are sitting here reading this I want you to understand that your life has meaning and there was not a day that you did not help someone. You are the type of person that is attracted to people in need and do your best to help them through whatever they are going through no matter if it cost your insanity in the end. Do not ever change and do not let yourself feel like you lives a worthless life. Always remember where you came from and what you have been through because those events led you to where you are now.
